Community Marks

Photographer - Video Producer

Community Marks is an artist collective that brought together community members to create a collaborative mural celebrating local stories and connections. The artwork spans the entire length of a pedestrian bridge in the Grandview-Woodland area of Vancouver.

I documented the project through video and photography, capturing participant interviews, workshop activities, and the final artwork.

Funded by the City of Vancouver

Interviews

I setup and filmed interviews between artists and community participants that captured stories of the neighbourhood. These stories were integrated into the design of the final artwork.

See these interviews on Instagram.

Workshops

Community members shared their experiences through artworks and conversations with the collective.

I captured photo and video documentation throughout the workshops to highlight community participation. This content was used to promote future events such as the mural painting.

Final Artwork

Over two-hundred members from the community volunteered to paint the mural. The large turnout was in-part thanks to the Community Marks social media content.

I provided documentation of the completed mural and the community collaboration behind its creation.
